Moorestown Distance Training ProgramThe Moorestown Distance Training Program is designed on fundmental principles handed down by two of the great Coaches - Art Gulden, the former Coach of Bucknell University, and Jack Daniels, the noted distance coach and author. The basic principles are to build up the base cardiovascular and muscle systems, within the desire and capability level of each individual runner on the team. The last part is important. Not all runners have the same skill set. Not all runners have the same amount of base mileage. Not all runners have the same physical maturity or characteristics. And not all runners have the same desire to push themselves. The Moorestown Distance Training Program is designed to welcome ALL runners - whether they can barely run a couple of miles, or if they have a desire to be a state champion. We use the same base methods and tune it for each runner. When you review our Training charts, you will see different mileage suggestions for different categories of runner. We segment the team into 4 basic groups:
Each runner may float between groups on a daily basis depending on how the workout, how they feel, and what their plans are. The Training Schedules are just a rough plan - the actual workout for those days may have changed, but the basic intent is mostly kept in practice.
